WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is considering a plan to expand its military training of Ukrainian forces to include army soldiers, the commander of the U.S. Army in Europe said on Monday, describing a potential move that risks heightening tensions with Russia.

Moscow already accuses Washington of fomenting anti-Russian sentiment in eastern Europe. The United States rejects the claim and says Russian troops are backing separatist fighters in eastern Ukraine, violating that country's sovereignty.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in an interview with The Associated Press on Monday that he welcomes the possibility of additional U.S. training, describing it as part of a concerted American response to "the global challenge of the entire free world."

If it's a part of a plan that we stick to in degrading Putin, I'm all for it. However, we must be ready to deal with the consequences.

Yes Sir CAPT Kevin B., the Russians are already threatening if we do this it could lead to war. Let' them wallow in their own squalor. They're not going to do anything but blow some more hot air.

SGT (Join to see) I would hope that we would provide comprehensive training and leverage our relationship with Ukraine to gain access to another point of monitoring Iran from the northwest in a nation that shares more of our values than our NATO "allie" Turkey.
I hope that we improving our relationship with Georgia as well.

LTC Stephen F., I hope it does workout Sir. I'm just naturally skeptical about foreign nations sticking to their word.

I am for it. With all respect to the Russian people, Easter Europe (aka eastern NATO flank) does not need American help in fomenting anti-Russian superpower sentiments. They have been doing it well on their own based on history and experience under the leave us be sentiment ;-)
We are not doing anything we have not been asked for.
