My appeal to be reinstated as a detailed recruiter was disapproved. Anyone have experience of how the reassignment process works for involuntary reassignment and also what are the significant effects of a Relief for Cause NCOER?

Generally speaking, if USAREC doesn't want you around any longer, they'll have your branch manager move you.

You'll want to make an immediate and profound impact on your new command because that's who you need to write letters of recommendation for the QMP board that will review you. An RFC isn't a guaranteed dismissal like a DUI GOMOR usually is, but if the nature of the RFC is that you violated Army Values, character/integrity, the board will most likely separate you.

WO1 (Join to see) if you were relieved, you were relieved. If there was cause to relieve you, meaning you didn't uphold the highest standards, then the RFC was valid. If you disagree you can file a formal appeal. An unbiased board will review it and make a decision.

WO1 (Join to see) I would add that if you're going to appeal you need to do it before the QMP board meets to review your case. While you have two years to appeal your NCOER, the QMP board does not wait for your appeal to be complete before referring you to QMP.

SFC (Join to see) I got selected for WOCS and have a school date in the next couple months. If I commission would that effect the QMP?

WO1 (Join to see) actually, yes. Promoting is considered a waiver for QMP. If you're going to WOCS and you aren't currently prohibited from movement, then your NCOER doesn't matter.

A SSG to CSM that receives an RFC NCOER will be subject to QMP.

WO1 (Join to see) don't quote me, but I think this is going to depend on if you're flagged and/or you commission as a WO1 before the QMP board meets.

I am shocked to see that a SFC does not know the impact of a relief for cause NCOER, much less how Soldiers are reassigned.

First you are subject to QMP, very likely outcome. Involuntary reassignment comes with the territory. Frankly it is better they send you on your way then keep you where you will constantly have to contend with the effects of being relieved. It is likely that you would stay on the same installation if a slot is available. Remember you can work one level up and two levels down.

Thank you for your response CSM. Honestly, I've never had to deal with these type of issues whether it be myself or one of my soldiers. I've read in the regulations how the reassignment works and also the understand the impact of a RFC NCOER. With me never dealing with it firsthand I wanted to reach out to see if someone with experience with it can give me their input.
