Is there an active-duty recruiting officer that can help me with a transfer from reserves to active duty?

I hate to tell you but you can't. The Call to Active Duty Program from HRC is the only means to transition to Active Duty. There are no officer recruiters. The Call to Active Duty (CAD) Procurement Program is available to selected U.S. Army Reserve Component officers to fill actual and anticipated Active Duty vacancies. Officer accessions are centrally managed. Currently the CAD program is not open to RC 2LTs, COLs, and CW5s.

You can log into HRC and search for the Call to Active Duty Program.

You're National Guard, it's going to require a Conditional Release. Whether your state is willing to do that depends on a lot of things, are you ROTC with a GRFD scholarship or State OCS? Both of those have mandatory service times and if you haven't completed them, good luck. That Conditional Release goes to the first General in your chain of command, or in a lot of states, to the TAG.
It would probably be easier to volunteer for a deployment within the state or a neighboring state.

Agree. Conditional releases are usually rubber stamped if you don't have any obligation. If you DO have some type of obligation (besides your standard eight year MSO) to the state, you have a large hill to climb.

However, 2LT (Join to see) seeing as you're a 2LT, I would have to assume you're new to the unit. The leadership probably sees your being there as at least some type of investment and you're indirectly asking that they let you out of the "pay back" phase where they recoop on their investment (of course, I could be wrong and they just view you as a round peg in a round hole and there are many other round pegs that could fit in there).

If you don't have your chain of command support, then you might as well forget it. After all, it's a request for a conditional release and it doesn't have to be granted. Engage with your leadership so they understand your view and you understand theirs.

2LT (Join to see), what CPT (Join to see) is referencing is the Army's Call to Active Duty* (CAD) program. Each year they Army puts out a message detailing what the needs of the regular Army are and the program streamlines a transfer from the RC to the AC.

The last iteration of the program ended on 30 SEP 22 and was not open to 2LTs (although the program has been open to them in the past).

If you're looking to go into the active component, rather than just get a tour on active duty, then you can go three different routes currently.

1) As CPT (Join to see) stated - go onto an active duty mobilization and apply for a direct transfer to the active component once mobilized. This is an 'iffy' route to take as

2) Wait for the new CAD message to come out. They are usually released around the beginning of the FY, but for some reason it hasn't come out yet.

3) Apply for the USAR AGR program*. You could also go ARNG, but you just transferred out of that component so I don't know if you'll hit any snags that way.

There are usually a number of opportunity for various ADOS orders (periods of time on orders greater than 30 days and in some cases up to an entire fiscal year).

NOW IS THE TIME TO SEARCH FOR THOSE ADOS opportunities with the new Fiscal Year.

These are opportunities that happen all the time and come out of nowhere. Most the opportunities are going to be had from your surrounding chain of command and those they report under.

I see soldiers utilize these opportunities all the time and then by time they have finished out their initial obligation, like in your case you will eventually be a CPT and when you are a CPT with CCC completed then you are in prime position to say you finished your reserve obligation and can pursue AGR or Active Opportunities at that time. The importance of having CCC done is the receiving component and unit doesn't want to have to pay or worry about the continuation of your career, and with the next level PME done they know you are at least good for 5 or so years.

I think that's your best pathway. Bounce around getting temporary orders (they pay you as full time, and give you retirement points), and strengthen your Military Bio towards a full time job.

I think AT WORST you end up losing a few months of time on orders once you get in the cycle of things and fiscal years come to an end. Usually, folks in those cases figure it out, save up leave time, and cash in leave for money when orders end, and use that money to float them till the next set or orders.
