Personnel office on base won't process paperwork for ETS paperwork because one of my reenlistment contacts is not legible. I have my personal copy, and the iperms copy, but both cannot be read because the printer was low on ink during deployment in 2013. I saw the digital form so I knew what I was signing at the time if anyone get upset about that part. The part where I signed is clear and shows the date, but nothing else entered into the blanks is really visible.
I have everything ready to submit for ETS order and am now 3 weeks away from when terminal is supposed to start. Nobody in S1 or the retention office has had any answers over the last few week and every day I go to the personnel office they keep saying "No, we need to see that date" and turn me away.

Isn't this part of your DEERS record? I would assume any RAPIDS office would be able to get that information.
Failing that, call the HRC contact..

COL Randall C. - I tried HRC and they said that not only does this happen a bunch, but there is also no fix. Their options were to just wait out my contract until it ends, or to send a reenlistment contract to my old commander to see if they will sign and backdate it. Right now, I don't know how the Army even functions...
I am on Fort Lee, trying to get in touch with retention now to see if they have a better option. On my way to the DEERS office as well.
This is just a mind boggling situation.

HRC should have original in permanent 201 file in St Louie. Mine got lost once, and our IG went to St. Louie and found it in a cart in a hallway.

SSG (Join to see) - What is the specific issue regarding?
My understanding is that you're trying to get your ETS orders and for some reason the personnel office won't process your orders because some parts of your contract are illegible on the scanned copies. What does it say in the illegible spots that is a concern?

COL Randall C. - It was literally just a date they were hung up on. They ended up taking the printout from Retention, but the NCO up there said it was odd because they could look the dates up themselves. So, I think the issue might be solved now but it's been radio silence since then, so I am not sure.

File an IG complaint and an ICE complaint. MPD can't refuse to let you separate because they can't read a contract. There are thousands of missing contracts in the Army.

At my base, separations use the retain confirm screen if no other possible way to get a signed contract. Confirm screen shows new ets date, number of months, when the reenlistment happened, etc.. Your Career counselor should be able to easily print that off.

I will add that they might not take that but its pulled from the system that us counselors use to confirm contracts.

SFC (Join to see) - Yeah that is what I ended up using...but both the on base retention office and the other personnel office said the whole situation was weird. The date where I signed the document was clear and it has to be the same date as on the first page which was the hard to read one.

SSG (Join to see) that is weird, but glad it worked out. Those ets orders are a big change.
