What was your experience like participating in a Corporate Fellowship? What advice do you have for those who are interested in a fellowship?

Military retirees, did you partake in any corporate fellowships 6 months from your active duty military retirement? What was your experience like? Do you have any advice for those who are interested in a fellowship?
Give this a thumbs up to build relevance!

I recommend anyone interested to be the squeaky wheel and be persistent when applying. There are a lot of folks who seem to block or discourage the practice out of reflex without a real reason.

MSG (Join to see) - I have had experience working with folks who use the program when they get assigned to my current civilian job. I was medically retired and didn't get the opportunity to use the program.

SSgt Christophe Murphy - Got it. Do you mind sharing what you do for a living? Thanks for your time and for your Service!

MSG (Join to see) - After I was medboarded and retired I started working as Civilian IT support. Contracted for a while and eventually crossed over to a Federal GS employee with the Government. Worked at the Naval Hospital in San Diego and currently work for USDA in Missouri.

I have not but I did help a SSG, who contacted me, to get a skillbridge internship prior to her ETS at a contract company supporting the Army. They offered her a job at the end of it where she now works. I don't see a downside to the program for the individual.

I've been involved from a leadership point of view (one of my separating O5s took advantage of the program). The emails I traded back and forth with him while doing the fellowship were positive and he enjoyed it.
He interviewed with a couple of companies prior to being placed and was notified which was his 'match'. From what I gathered from his feedback was a class once a week but other than that it was like he was on transition leave with a civilian job.
I would absolutely pursue it if you have an interest!

That's great, sir! I've been extensively researching fellowships on my end because I feel it will be a better fit than the GS route. Currently looking at Raytheon, Boeing, and Disney.

My understanding is that you'll interview with the company to see if they have a position that's a good fit for you. It almost sounds like dating - you both need to be a match to make the relationship possible.
