Question. I have a friend who wants to join the Army. However In the past shes had cancer about 9 years ago. She’s cancer free now. Would it be possible for her to join?

This will depend on the type of cancer. Searching the DoDI 6130.03 with just the term "cancer" gave only a few results for specific types. Using "malignancy," "malignant," and other key words showed other results. The best advice for your friend is to seek out a Recruiter. A waiver will more than likely have to be submitted.

Like the other gentlemen said, definitely ask a recruiter. They would be able to break everything down for you. I really hope she is able to join. I wish her the best of luck.

SSG (Join to see), Lt Col Jim Coe is correct. You'll have to ask a recruiter.
The likely situation is that the condition will be noted and will require a waiver to enlist.
However, don't take any of our advice on it - she'll have to talk to the recruiter and see what is possible.
