Recently a friend of mine graduated from Recruiter schooling, which is held at Lackland. He said that there were more than a few SSgt MTI's. I checked THRMIS at that point, and saw that there are 90+ and the time of the updated list. Is this possible by being grandfathered in, or can a SSgt still apply? It's been a goal of mine since I left Lackland six years ago, and now I'm intrigued.

If you're either an "exceptional SSgt" or you have a line number for TSgt however you need to work it through the DSD program to apply. Best option is to contact MTI recruiting.

SSgt Gordon, I hear that if you're CC recommends and speaks highly of you and you have the EPR's to back him up you can become one. I also hear that the only way a stuff will become one is if he/she has a line # for Tech. So I'm not sure which is true. I wanted to become one also my Base Honor Guard superintendent talked me to try out AF Honor Guard. Plus you can get vectored/DSD more than once in you career. So I'm think do USAF HG. And later on when like a Master do MTI. Try contacting your shirt if not contact AFPC/ special duty functional. I forgot her name but she's USAF HG.
