My son just enlisted for MOS 25U. After Basic Training he will be reporting to Fort Gordon for school. I am sure that lots of things have changed since both his parents went to AIT. The main questions are can he have his car, computer and phone at AIT?

Thanks to everyone for your input. I think the best thing is for him to do whatever his recruiter tells him and for dad and mom to both back up and just be parents. SFC (Join to see) CPL T.A. Nelson SGT Dani W. SFC Geoffrey Carter SSG (Join to see) SGT (Join to see)

No one is allowed to drive or have a car unless MOS-T, I am stationed at Ft Gordon right now. Laptops and cell phones are allowed and their use is restrained to only after class hours.

Cyber CoE, next to the NCO Academy, yeah, I know that building. When I was at AIT, Aco 369 barracks was next to DFAC 13. the Iconic Signal Towers? That's sad.
When my dad was stationed at Ft. Mac, we would visit Ft. Gordon frequently - He was a Signal Officer. I have seen Gordon in the 70's. Barton Field was nothing but antenna array, the fields across the PX and Commissary were WWII/Vietnam 2 level open bay barracks - only the company admin buildings remain. Gate 2 closing must suck, that was going to Grovetown wasn't it?

They closed Gate 2 and Gate 3 in order to have traffic to Gate 6. Gate 2 is right next to Grovetown, there is a new Candlewood Hotel by the PX too.

SSG,
I was with A co 369th when I was there. I was prior service and my unit was for reclassification and prior service members. I was there Jan 2010 to May 2010.
I also went to Ft. Gordon for ALC(2014), Win-T course (2014) and SLC (2019)
The Classroom environment and Barracks situation seem to have degraded each visit.
Driving /POV for initial AIT soldiers is not authorized unless it was a PCS move (9mo or more) and at Commanders discretion.
Because of the undisciplined environment of the barracks, I would encourage security on all electronics. As you know, there are good soldiers and "dirtbag" soldiers.
Because the Soldiers are still considered in "boot" there are Phases that each soldier must go through for privileges. Phones are restricted as they are in basic.
The Barracks are not "open bay" like when I started, they are shared rooms up to 6 soldiers.
There are network drops in the barracks for internet access, as there is good cell service there too.
Just keep in mind, there isn't any privacy, and security needs to be enforced.
Also, to note - Cadre have been replaced with the Drill Sergeant (round and brown hats) - it isn't over at AIT.
