My 92Y reclass has rolled reserved and will commence June 1st. I have already spoken with my Training NCO and upon completion of 92Y school, he will put me in for HAZMAT training. I wanted to get a jump on learning the materials so that I am prepared going into the course at PEC.
Can anyone point me in the direction of good study material and resources to do just that?
Thank you in advance!

I have completed the Hazmat handlers course, and hazmat packagers course...as well as recertified a few times. Without a doubt, I would say, don't try and prestudy.. Few reasons..1: it does not matter what you know, it only matters what they teach you that you will be tested on. The follow-on is, that you might learn in pre-study updated info, that will fail you on a POI and test that is slightly outdated. Or you might learn outdated info that is not in the POI or test. |
Bottom line ..they are teaching you HOW, using a set of info and data to teach that POI. The regulations, laws, ect you will be taught to look up in a current CFR..not do it from memory..Its all about HOW to do the job..and that is what you will be taught, that lesson will be tested using material that may or may not be current but it does not matter

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense! Thank you! What other 92Y additional classes are useful to request?

SPC Josh Tharp -I had a personal rule for 28 years of service...never turn down a school.
That allowed me to go to a large verity of schools that while not all were "infantry" centric , it provided me opportunities to learn new things that my units had to use, work with, comply to....It gave me insight another SSG, SFC, MSG, 1SG, Sergeant Major may not have.. That was useful to my unit, my commander, myself. It also opened a few assignments for me that otherwise might not have been offered.

Thank you very much for a starting place! I like to be ahead of thr curve when going into a school. I'm relatively confident in 92Y school and looking for additional schools to help set me apart. Thanks again for the input!

I would suggest using SGM Erik Marquez advice prior to attending the school and the use MSG (Join to see) for after you complete the school and actively use those skills
