I might be transferred to Stuttgart soon and want to know if a DOT/Snell certified helmet would meet requirements. Do I need to get an ECE certified helmet?

Click on the German flag in the top right corner tow switch to English. This is for the Ramstein/Landstuhl area.

Here's a great website to prepare you for your driver's test. Click on study guides to see the Army Regulation that has some details about helmets. Also, if you have after market exhaust that is loud, bring factory exhaust with you or you won't pass inspection. I had to find some on eBay and it took two months to get it here and installed.

You will be legal to ride just about anywhere on the European continent with an ECE helmet and in Germany with any motorcycle helmet, unless of coarse you are active duty. If you are active duty you will need the ECE helmet and a bright orange road guard vest to go with it. Also, this information may a little dated, please check with your gaining unit and sponsor just to be sure. Have fun and enjoy!

Thank you sir, I may just get an ECE anyway although they're a little hard to find. I'm a DA Civilian.
