If a 100 percent vet passes away does the surviving spouse receive compensation?

I understand that is the vet dies from a service connected illness the spouse receives compensation. But in the case the vet from an unrelated cancer or in a car accident what happens?

I had read that already. It is co fusing, from my understanding we are not eligible. He was medically discharged 2 and half years ago, and he now receives 100 percent disability pay

General, Yes if the cause of death is related to the service connected disability, if the service member was 100 percent for 10yrs. or longer the survivor benefit remains the same as what the veteran was receiving

Yes... but my husband's greatest disability percentages comes from back injuries, ptsd, and knees injuries. I doubt anyone can die because of back or knee pain

In my parents case my father died from a stroke, he was 100% due to back injury and chronic pain, because he was rated at 100% for over 10 yrs. my receives the same amount as a survivor benefit. Each case is different the time line is what secured my mom’s payment… hope this helps

Are you saying that after 10 years of marriage and his death, his wife will get his FULL disability pay? I can find no such thing on the VA website
