Usually pl, cpt then Bn cmdr. Some Bn mortar platoons had Cpt, Bn xo then Bn cmdr. My experience.

I meant more so for the squad leaders in the platoon

I Believe our Batallion Mortar Platoon Squad Leaders were E-6 and every once in awhile E-7. On the Company level where I was we usually tried to have an E-6 or at the minimum an E-5 depending on availability.

It sounds like your Battalion Mortar Platoon Squad Leaders held ranks of E-6, with occasional E-7s. In our Company, we aimed for E-6s or at least E-5s, depending on availability. https://supertunnelrush.pages.dev/
