Hello everyone like it says above I just signed a contract to reclass to 74d. I had previous stints as a 88m in the guard and 13b (0811) as an active duty Marine. If anyone can tell me how school is and just the day to day life as a 74D I would really appreciate it.

SGT Marcus Bright great question as a 74D you will be the SME for all things CBRN. In school you will learn how to set up your room or cage depending on the echelon your going to. You will also learn equipment and its purpose for the chamber. The most enlighten I was when we went to live training. I reclassified and was very happy for the opportunity to go and learn. Now if you are the CBRN NCO you will have a property book to maintain as well as ensuring all Soldier's have their assigned equipment and are signed for it. Congratulations

I enlisted in 1990 as a 54B now 74D. When I chose 54B my recruiter pulled out this gynormous videodisc and played for me to see what the 54B MOS was all about and I got convinced that I was going to work in a lab one day...lol. My fault was not to ask all the questions that I needed to ask. The only time that I was assigned to a Chemical Company was on my first duty station. After that, I was just a part of the support platoon on a field artillery, aviation, chemical/ biological island depot and mechanized infantry. Needless to say my MOS during that time wasn't taken seriously by the top brass unless there was an alert for deployment. Nope, my personal experience wasn't too good. I wish you the best and a better experience than mine. God bless!
