Does your area do this kind of thing? ‘Stand Down’ event in Baton Rouge draws more than 60 homeless veterans seeking help, services

Officials and volunteers from about 20 government agencies and nonprofit groups were there to help the veterans with paperwork, counseling, health screenings and other services. Each was offered an Army surplus duffel bag filled with clothing and personal items, as well as a hearty breakfast and lunch and a free haircut.

I haven't heard nor seen anything such as this being done in Alabama nor Georgia, but that could be due to being right outside Ft. Benning and there being a better sense of taking care of our veterans around here.

We have something like this open everyday of the year in Charlston WV., and Huntington WV. VA Medical complex. Scouts Out

Stand Down's are great! We had one in Portland in September, and one in the neighboring Clackamas County in January. It's such a great way for homeless vets to get clothes, job leads and see what other resources they can connect with in their area.
