I'll be PCSing soon to JBLM. What's the barracks situation in the 555th engineer brigade? Are they individual or open bay?

I don't think the 555 barracks are shared ones - unless somehow they updated that building. I am pretty sure the ones that are 555 right now were 14th EN when I was first stationed there. I was in 14th from 05-09 when it was under 555 and I swear we lived in those barracks that are now 555 before we got moved to the other end of the block - and those are still 14th EN (which is now a BEB and is part of 7th ID and in the SBCT). There are new barracks on North Fort but it doesn't look like Triple Nickle lives in them. But again, I haven't been in those since 2009 so not sure if they remodeled them at all on the inside. On the outside they all look the same. Also there's an athletic complex and then a shopette, Popeye's and Arby's that weren't there in 2009. Yes the WWII barracks just got torn down last summer or the summer before I think. Maybe 2 years ago now.
When I lived in the 14th barracks they were individual rooms. I shared a room when I first got there as a SPC but then did end up with my own room as a NCO after the first deployment. It had a small bathroom, fridge, microwave, two closets, two beds. That's about it. But not very big and there was no shared anything like a kitchenette like the new ones seem to have. On the outside they still look exactly the same as in 2009.

You may be moving into newer barracks I was stationed there and since getting out I've seen plenty of new barracks that make them live like kings compared to the ones I would stay in. If you're at triple Nickle though they are shared rooms or if your lucky shared bay but rooms with doors. I lived off base I had kids but I spent plenty of time in the barracks and mayhem persisted for a while. As for now, I am sure you will be in one of four quads. No worries your young walk, the gym is a stone's throw away the Warrior Zone which was built in 2013 is for you young bucks to play games watch movies drink eat, etc. A few chow halls to choose from if they are even open at a time? I digress you'll love it here, and the 555th 864th is the best Unit in the world. B co 864th(OEF07-08), 617th 864th, 585th 864th 555th Batt(OEF10-11)... not biased at all. Good luck soldier be safe don't do anything that'll get you sent to the gate with a boot to the behind. Listen and follow orders be at the right place at the right time, have the right uniform on and always be 15 min prior to 15 min prior.
do not worry the old WW2 barracks are gone and that style if that's what you were getting at oh and if you're a new booty Pvt E fuzzy do not be a tommy tuff nutts nor a billy bada*s but most importantly never be a Jody or a blue falcon.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff
I'm not sure how current or official that is. The I Corps number - I don't know what that number goes to but it's definitely not the HHBN I Corps staff duty number - which sits in Corps HQ now. In fact, I have never seen that number and I was just in Corps HQ for the last 3 years.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - I agree, Since the information is posted, he could call it to find out. Maybe its MWR, or post housing, or the organization that supervises the barracks.
