A recent thread (Re-enlisting on the Army Birthday) reminded me of a couple Marines I served with who had a couple "oh #%^ moments." They forgot to do something important. Namely re-enlist.

You ask? Huh?!? How the heck? Keep in mind after the first one, your dates change around, and you just kind of lose track. When you are on number 3-4... I can see it happening.

One was an officer (Capt), and the other was an enlisted (SSgt), both around the 12~ year mark.

I've seen countless people forget to renew driver's licenses (normally it doesn't apply), and things like that as well.

So what is the biggest thing you've seen someone just "forget?"

I saw a guy that forgot his wife's wedding ring the day of the wedding.

I left my daughter on the curb one day when I picked her up from daycare. I put the car seat in the car, strapped it in, and got in the drivers seat and drove off.

OOPS!! I FORGOT!!......... I WAS RUSHING :\

(I came right back and NO I did not go to jail)

Officers have to re-enlist now?

Back in the day we were in "indefinitely".

I know Navy Officers are still indefinitely until we resign our commission. Not sure about the other branches though. I was wondering the same thing About the O-3.

He didn't "renew" his contract (I don't know the technical term). I do know he was sitting at his desk relatively stressed out, making a lot of phone calls trying to get it sorted.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, maybe its a reserves thing. My "contract" was forever, unless one of us took action to terminate it.

Same here. I've been commissioned for nearly 13 years and I've never had to renew a contract.
