For this weeks submission I present a classic science fiction book.

Though it is not military themed, a recent discussion reminded me of something that was brought up during the book (which I read 20~ years ago).

The best warriors are built in adversity.

The novel of dune takes place on a desert planet, where a noble family is essentially banished. This planet reminded me of 29 Palms, CA, where Marines go for our conventional warfare certification (as units).

It is definitely worth a read.

I read it in the desert too, as it happens. It really made me question why desert people don't don't go nocturnal, seems obvious. Must be heavily ingrained in our natural behaviors to be diurnal. Great book.

I think it's part of that "Bottom up" evolutionary view. We're hard wired to be diurnal, so adaptive behavior that goes counter to that is just a stop gap. I had a buddy who was stationed in Alaska during the summer. Said the day/night shift drover him crazy for the first few weeks.

I've been wanting to read the novel Dune for a long time! Thanks for a little review. If you like to read books, then go to the site https://freebooksummary.com/category/ask-the-dust there are summaries for many books and novels. For example, yesterday I read the summary for Ask the Dust and I'm going to order this book, maybe I'll order Dune as well.

I am also a member of the book club, as I really like to read, this hobby has a lot of advantages. If all book lovers have gathered here, then most likely you should be interested in reading the article https://signalscv.com/2021/08/top-5-classic-books-that-everyone-should-read/, which contains five of the most top classics books that everyone should read. But I want to warn you that after reading them, you may find similar themes and plots in postmodern literature, but you will know where it started.
