Will I join my unit when i’m done with AIT if they only have a couple of months left of deployment?

You would not deploy..........unless they really really REALLY needed you. Upon completion of AIT, you will simply join the Rear Detachment element of your unit.

Yeah you are on target. He has to be trained for deployment that will eat up some of the 2 months provided there is even a unit training for deployment.
He will have to do administrative business as well to be certified he is deployable.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Yep, my thoughts too, by time a USAR soldier spun up to deploy all he'd be able to do once he got there is help pack the planes and join them for the flight home.

Typically, no. Especially when in the NG or Reserve. You would join the rear det or rear detachment and fall in with the soldiers when they come back. Shortly after graduating, you should be in contact with someone in the rear detachment about when to show up and if you deploy or not.
