Also can you send up a promotion packet while you are waiting for your MOS to change?

So, you went to AIT to Reclass? How long ago did you graduate? Did you EVER receive orders stating what your new MOS is? Did you get a 1059? What documents did you get from your AIT? And, lastly, did you provide copies to your S1 to get iPermed?
How long before you can see if it has changed? One way is to go into your HRC USARC profile and look at your personnel data. Another way is to ask your Unit Administrator. As for how long this normally takes......if it takes more than a month then someone fell asleep at the keyboard.
As for Promotion packet.....you can send one now but here is the problem....if you don't have current MOS orders for your packet, then you would be considered for promotion in your old MOS. And chances are that dog ain't gonna hunt. If you want a promotion packet to be considered under your new MOS, then you need to have your MOS orders in there.

I reclassed; but it was in the early 70's, from Medical to Militery Police after 90 Days OJT. All I had to do was ask the Detachment Commander (CPT, 236th MP Detachment) and well witthin a month, I recieved orders awarding me the MP MOS. Then, a short time later, I requested to make MP my PRIMARY and Medic my SECONDARY - same thing - new orders doing that.

Here’s a good question to ask yourself. Can you effectively lead soldiers in an MOS you just learned?
My answer to you would be no and you would benefit from working the job first, then trying to be an NCO in the field,

Sarge, I have to differ with you on that. Being an NCO in one MOS isn't all that different than being one in a new MOS. I know I tooka TON of correspondence courses for a new MOS while doing 90 Days OJT; worked my butt off learning everything I could about the new MOS (MP). I went into the MP's as a SP4 and made Sergeant within the same time frame that I would have for the old MOS (Medical). I don't know if SPC (Join to see) did a whole new AIT or OJT if that's still doable, but I'd say it depends on his scores and how well he does at a board if he has to do that.

Are you active or Reserves?
What did you reclass from and what did you reclass to?
Was this a voluntary or involuntary Reclass?
