Anyone familiar with military waivers for red/green color blindness? My son's friend failed an Air Force Special Warfare physical for a red/green failure but he can distinguish red from green in most cases. Are waivers ever possible?

Usually the red green test for special operations is because of the need to be able to distinguish the red and green lights on airborne operations. For people who fail the regular red green test for Airborne, they administer the Farnsworth Color Lantern Test to see if they can tell the red and green lights apart

Of course, if the MOS itself requires red/green capability, then that's the end of that
