So, I am currently active duty my ETS is Oct 2023. I would like to do the green to gold program. Does anyone know what my best route is to take to do it? I really hate to get out to do it. So, wasn't sure. Would it even be worth reclassing before I do it? Just trying to see what my options are. I currently live on base so would I move off post to do it? I have dependents.

The Active Duty Option requires that you have at least two years of college complete. It's also very competitive, they only have about 200 openings per year, so you'll really need to stand out against your peers

Competitive is a relative thing, SFC (Join to see).
When I got my scholarship, they were only awarding 50 2-year and 50 3-year scholarships each year. And an over-age buck sergeant with a mixed disciplinary record and underwhelming academic managed to snag one of them.

Green To Gold, if memory serves, is for current members "getting out" to go to college and commission thru ROTC. They're still on the Army books, but their place of duty is college. If you ETS then go thru college/ROTC, then that wouldn't be Green to Gold. Find your Career Counselor and have a chat with them about this

That sounds like the best case scenario.

If possible I’d still recommend taking some college under your enlisted benefits as having some hours toward college certainly can’t hurt. I’m also partial in recommending the University of North Georgia enrolling in the Corps of Cadets on the Dahlonega, GA campus. It certainly would help set you up for success as a future Commissioned Officer! Best of luck PV2 Cheyenne Patterson

MAJ Roland McDonald yes I sure did. I even saw them play varsity Basketball. I was in the Color Guard most of my time at NGC. I actually was aware of all the class of 1988 Flag Officers. MG or I think LTG now Paul Calvert was ahead of me in High School in Athens, GA. After a delay he came to North Georgia and has done extremely well since. The class of 86-87 was effected a lot by the post Desert Storm/ Cold War Rift. I think the 1988 class got ahead of the wave a bit. I clearly remember then CPT Terry now LTG (Ret) telling us about RIFTs that occurred in the Army. Fortunately a Rifted Vietnam Officer assisted me getting into the Reserves after my early release from active duty in 1992

PV2 Patterson apologies if we took over your Rally Point question. Hopefully it shows a good reason. To at least check out North Georgia!

LTC John Mohor it's complety okay. It always nice to see others have experience somewhere and not just saying they heard this or that about places. Definitely will look into it

MAJ Roland McDonald - ha! I know the Jarrard brothers also. One of them became the XO of the military dept as a LTC. Then I was at Fort Belvoir a few years later and thought I saw him there too. Turns out it was his twin brother. The world is too small.
