Can an E5 Promotable with 10 years TIS go indef if not promoted to an E6 ?

Hi. I am an E5 Promotable, with 8 years TIS. I am OCONUS currently and already got put on orders to CONUS with DEROS JUL22. My current ETS is OCT22. I really don't think I can get promoted in the next 2 years as points have been super high and my career counselor is saying that I can't reclass, I can only reenlist with option 1 for 2 years or more(to meet SRR) and that will put me to 10 years TIS, then I'll go indefinite term. I can't find in any regulation that E5's can go indef. only E6. My reenlistment window is open as of 19Oct21.

You must be a SSG to go indef.
You can't reclass because by reg you can't reclass while on assignment.
Points are not unachievably high for 92F, they're just high enough to need some hustle. In fact, not that long ago I reclassed a SGT with 14 years from 91J to 92F just so he could make SSG and retire. He made SSG the next month.
The SRR to go from a long tour OCONUS area to CONUS area is 12 months from the report date, so if your DEROS is July 2022 your report date should be Aug/Sep 2022 and your SRR should be Aug/Jul 2023.

SFC, what if I stay as an E5 for 10 years and 1 day, am I still considered Indef?
Also, my report date is 2 days after my DEROS. MPD is not willing to give me a chance to take leave and see my family before PCSing.

SSG (Join to see) you can go indef until you are a SSG no matter how long you're I. The Army.

SSG (Join to see) mpd isn’t your commander and doesn’t control when or where you take leave they are just a bunch of civilians! Take leave and go see your family it’s yours you already earned it!
