Could someone please explain the temporary promotions starting January 1st?

I’m a sergeant (P) and I have more points than I need to get promoted.
Does this mean, if the points stay this low, will I get promoted January 1st?
Just really confused. Everyone at my unit is saying something different.

The automatic promotion will promote qualified individuals regardless of PME completion.

If you are a SGT (P) and you meet the requirements and are fully qualified for promotion with the exception of ALC, you will be promoted and be sent to ALC when a slot is available

CPT (Join to see) Soldiers on AD can't choose when they go to PME and it takes a General to defer it, so it's not like years before during the surge when people could just choose when they go.

As SSG (Join to see) pointed out, the last two years of classes being cut and reduced in size, led to a massive slowdown of promotions because we can't get enough personnel through NCOES to keep up with promotion in some MOS's.

This temporary exemption will promote them but they have to go to NCOES within a year. We definitely have people who want to go, I have Soldiers who had to wait up to three years to get a slot. It's so bad that HRC is slotting AD personnel into RC NCOES courses to cover the backlog

SFC (Join to see) - Roger that, but I guess my curiosity is leading to why a virtual solution couldn't have been vetted out by now. Clearly, the problem has manifested beyond that. Some one has to know the numbers. X number of NCO's need classes, they have Y years/days before hitting a wall against a time requirement, and there are only Z classes available. I'm guessing the math doesn't pan out and this is only kicking the can down the road.

Update: I have an ALC slot. January 9th - February 10th
My 1SG just told me if points stay the same, I’d get promoted February 1st

Would this also apply to a SPC (P)? I am slotted for BLC in January now. I meet my points and am in my secondary zone.
