I was wondering if i still qualify to transferring into the IRR?
I am currently in the NG and i did 5 years active duty in the Marine Corps and completed my IRR service within it. I still have 2 years left on my NG contract
I missed the camaraderie at first, but now i have a good job and work night shifts 5:30pm-5:30am and always have to take a day off of work prior which is a huge pay cut for me since im on a 3/4 schedule.
Just looking for any guidance on what options i may have and still keep my honorable discharge.
Thanks

Find your Retention NCO/Career Counselor and ask them. They're the SMEs....plus you'll need to talk to them anyway to get the IRR packet rolling.

What does your contract say? Did you sign a 6 x 2, 6 years drilling and 2 years in the IRR? If yes, then you can submit your transfer without issues. If no, then you can still submit a request to transfer to the IRR but the process will take longer and you may not get approved.
Check you contract, talk to retention, and work with HR to submit the request.

What unit are you in? Ask you unit to do SUTAs. There is often ADVON and clean up crews attached to AT. See if you can do the majority of your drills during AT. Do it for 2 years and it’s done.

Thank you I will ask about that to see if it’s an option for me!
Much appreciated for the response!
