Hello, I just found out I will be attending satellite ILE (AC). I would like to know if anyone could provide any insight for what I should I expect. And if you did attend satellite versus resident have you had any negative interactions because of it?

I completed mine (several years ago) and preferred it to a Residence course. I don’t think I have any real negative thoughts about it as long as you have steady access the Internet for research. The hardest part (IMO) is setting time aside from your other daily activities to do your class work! The school was readily available via emails for any questions and even granted me an extension on a few assignments because of circumstances. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll do fine!

I went as a resident several years ago. There will be a lot of reading and essays. This is what I remember. I think they will be relevant to you.
- Operation Torch was used to describe the N Africa campaign.
- Carl Von Clausewitz, an 1800s military theorist, was studied. His thoughts has strategic implications. He opined that wars have three important components: Passion of the people, Military acumen, and Legitimate government.
- There will be various army branch briefs.
- There will be discussions on the Center of Gravity, or true strength of a military.
- You will study Revolution in Military Affairs (RMAs) which is technology, doctrine, weaponry, weapons platforms that gives a military an advantage.
