My command, I was trying to get an fste to stay in alaska till my ets. But it has been disapproved twice. My 1SG said if they can't push it through then I'll have to pcs.

Only your branch can do the PCS, and if that is what they want you will be asked to extend, or re-up to cover the new assignment, or sigh a declaration on doing neither. Go talk to retention- they can read you the reg on not having enough time for stability and PCSing.

To make a short story long, I was in this boat, thought I could choose an assignment for my remaining 20 months in the Army. Emailed HRC and they stated you need a minimum of 2 years to PCS, and was given open assignments I was not happy with. Got DA selected for recruiting, signed a 6 year needs of the Army contract. Got out of recruiting, retention NCO got my contract voided just to sign another 6 year contract but with a bonus.
Anyway, SFC Boyd told you all you needed. You’ll either have to reenlist for assignment or possibly be put on orders and have to reenlist to meet the SRR for that assignment.

Glad to hear you got a bonus out of the deal.
If he's an initial term Soldier, and he probably is, branch isn't placing them on assignment. We have the same issue here in Italy, branch won't place the Soldiers on assignment and they have to ride out the rest of their contract OCONUS if they choose not to reenlist

Thanks for clarification, wasn’t sure on that even though from my experience I’ve never heard of 1st termers getting put on assignment so they have an incentive/choice whether to reenlist for choice of assignment SFC (Join to see)
