Does anyone know if there are good opportunities for 17E on the outside? Still trying to get info together on if it will be a good opportunity to reclass too. Thanks in advance.

There are some jobs that directly relate to EW on the outside, but you'd likely need the experience, education, certifications, and have some good networking. I am in the process of reclassing to 17E with a report date of 20OCT2021! If you do decide down the line to do so, feel free to message me!

SPC (Join to see) Not at all. Everything you learn will pretty much be practical, it’s nothing compared to Cyber operations like 17C. From what I’ve heard, BET is the hardest part of the course. It keeps changing in nature too, adding/removing modules from it. As long as you get passed BET, you are pretty guaranteed to make it though as long you don’t do anything stupid.

Was there any certs or courses needed prior to reclassing? Or did you just tell retention what you wanted and they got you a school date

SGT (Join to see) I think you need a few required high school classes. I don’t remember off the top of my what they are, but you will need to provide your high school transcript.

SGT (Join to see) Otherwise that is it. Class seats are few and far between when I was trying to reclass, so be prepared to be patient if it’s the same way still.

On the outside? Aren't you already a civilian most of the time?
The Army doesn't give training that translates directly into civilian employment. Civilian employers are looking for certifications and employment experience. You can spend 10-20 years as a 25U/25W and walk out with a job as an IT supervisor or tech worker because of the certs you picked up and the assignment experience that gave you applicable job experience, but going to 25U AIT will not get you hired in those roles.
