I put in a 4187 for command sponsorship and have been waiting for almost a month for a answer back. Are there any steps that I can take myself in regard to getting answers? i extended my contract to meet the requirements. I have been separated from my wife and kids for 2 years now and I just don't want to have done this all for nothing. Does anybody have any guidance?

4187 isn't how you gain command sponsorship, there's a whole list of requirements that have to be met to be approved for command sponsorship. Extending your contract is the last step, once command sponsorship is approved. If you've been OCONUS for two years already you'll have to extend your DEROS with an FSTE as well because you need to have at least one year left on your DEROS from sponsorship approval.

If you extended your ETS for command sponsorship you can have that extension deleted

roger that SFC, but i was sent a checklist that said i need the 4187 at the top of it and my unit is just sitting on top of it. everytime I ask about it i get yelled at or ignored and i dont feel its right. can i go through my Retention NCO for further assistance. All Im asking for is to be reunited with my family 2 years is a long time.

SPC(P) (Join to see) did you do the rest of the checklist? Has your family had their EFMP screening? Has the screening been sent to the gaining hospital? That's where you need to start. If your documents aren't getting signed go talk to your 1SG and Commander.

Yes SFC i have completed all of the requirements everything was all sent up in one packet and the gaining hospital has been tracking my family's efmp stuff for months now. somewhere in between there's a breakdown in communication. funny thing is Higher command was here a week ago and still no answers

SPC(P) (Join to see) then you need to go sit down with the command who's level it is at. If it's lost or sitting you can file an IG complaint. Easiest thing is to just go to the person it's at and ask yourself

If it has been sent to the country where you are requesting command sponsorship they are the ones to say yea or nay. When I had the same question taking my family to Korea I was able to email the person there and found out the status from them.
