I’m a 25S about to graduate AIT, I have orders to Guam but i just got married. My wife isn’t planning on coming there until 2.5 months after me and we’re also covering the plane ticket. I want to avoid losing my duty station and being stuck here at Fort Gordon longer if i can. I just want to know if they can deny me living with my wife when she gets there since she wound be technically on my orders.

You have to process for command sponsorship. Once you are approved for command sponsorship then you can have your orders amended and the Army will fly your spouse out and even pick up her household goods and a car and move them.

If you try to circumvent this process your spouse will not be covered for medical, travel, housing, or anything else. You will be given a room in the barracks and treated the same as any brand new Soldier arriving in the unit. As a new Soldier you will incur crippling financial expenses and if you do the BAH wrong you risk being charged with, and possibly going to jail for, BAH fraud.

PV2 (Join to see) if you are unaccompanied you will generally live in the barracks OCONUS when there is barracks space. It doesn't matter if you're married or not. You aren't authorized to live off post unless your dependents are command sponsorship or there is not enough available barracks space

SFC (Join to see) Also one last thing, you said i won’t have time to get my orders amended before i finish AIT (I graduate at the end of this month). You also said i would have to get command sponsorship and my orders amended in Guam. If i already have my orders and will be flying to Guam on my current unaccompanied orders, they can still change that once i’m there?

PV2 (Join to see) yes I know it doesn't make sense, but the MPD at your new location will cut the new orders for you, you won't have to reach back to your AIT post to get your old orders amended.

You won't have time before you leave because it takes a few months to accomplish. It's even harder once you're over there because your dependent has to go and do all the things you would normally do with them. On the good side it's not a foreign country so you don't have to worry about the hassle of passports and visas.
