So I did weapons qualifications in 2020 and recently again in April 2021. Same score for both times yet my points for promotion dropped by 40 points due to the scoring? Apparently there's a new DA scoring form out and the points for each category aren't the same or changed? I'm just trying to see why my points would drop drastically if I qualified in the same category.

DOT 40 does score differently than the old qual did. Your number of hits count still but now there is a requirement to hit certain targets, at certain distances. If you have the number of hits for sharpshooter but didn’t hit the required targets, you don’t get sharpshooter.

For instance, and I’m pulling numbers out of the air for an example, for sharpshooter you have to hit 35 targets but 4 have to be 300 meter hits, and you hit 35 targets but 3 at 300, you are now a marksman.

First step here would be to get with your FLL. Did you already talk to them and ask if they can help clarify?

My FLL is doing CST but I’ll ask the NCO I’m temporarily under. Thanks 1LT.

SGT(P) (Join to see) sure thing! Always good to get their buy in first so they're in your corner and in the know.

IZ'm with SFC (Join to see) on this one. My first qualifications were based on 80 targets, not the 40 later years required.
