Might one have adequate internet and free time to take classes while at Camp Lemmonier, Djibouti? Internet and free time to study are concerns. Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you can. There is a college or two with offices on base. You can pay for internet for your room or use some of the places for free internet. You wont be constantly engaged in activities that you wont have downtime but how much depends on your job, unit, command.
There are 9 to 5 type positions there but it depends on the job mostly. Depending on the time of the year, you're 6 or 7 hours ahead of the east coast of the US time wise.

Side note, the internet is fairly reliable but the super fast speeds there aren't really super fast here. However, for college work its definitely adequate.

Thank you for all that valuable information! It is good to know I will at least have a reliable internet connection and access to education resources. Thank you for your input, Sir.

SPC (Join to see) - Internet is certainly a big deal and they do have various plans for you. The NEX (Navy’s version of the Exchange) will have routers for you. Once you get your permanent home, it will be an easier process but you get it in your temp quarters. You’ll be there approximately 8 weeks before you move into your regular berthing.
Their fast internet works for streaming Netflix but not many other streaming services. Netflix just optimizes for slower bandwidth. Its about $65 a month or so and after work peak times everything slows down. Again, for college, you’ll be fine over all.

Thank you for the response, Sergeant Major. I was wondering if it is typically a 9-5 kind of deal at Camp Lemonnier. Most importantly though, I am concerned about internet connectivity for said online classes. Thank you again!
