I recently moved almost 100 miles away from my current reserve unit and was wondering how the process works for trying to transfer to a closer unit somewhere else.

Find one that is local that has your MOS or generic slots. Just call them to get the information on openings. If you find one and they agree to take you , then get with your current unit to complete the transfer. I used to switch units often. I’ve been retired a while now, but I believe it is still the same.

CPT Fred "TJ" Jones Thanks for the feedback. How do I even look for units in my location? Is this something you just google for?

SPC Onel Cruz - There are two websites (CAC required) that list units with openings by MOS and rank. Here is USAR page with URLs

As long as the closer unit has an open slot for you, and as long as both parties sign approval for transfer...yes you can.
