Is there any way to see open slots at other basis for any MOS outside of retention NCO'S. My retention NCO is at cw5 level of rarity and I'm trying to explore my options.

They're only released on Retain. The fact is there's just not that many class seats given to in service reclass. Most of the open class seats are for over strength MOS's and so they can't be filled. If you can't get hold of your Retention NCO go see your Battalion Career Counselor. If you can't find them, go see your Brigade Career Counselor. But don't expect to get a list and walk away to think about it. Those class seats are limited and are available first come first serve. Some of them have a shelf life of seconds to minutes before being snatched up by other counselors

CPL (Join to see) your CC can't do the packet for you, it has to be submitted by you personally. The process is that you apply to the CI Recruiting network site. They send you an acceptance letter. You take that to your CC who writes a memo stating you need a TS. S2 initiates that. You fill out and submit your Eqip. Once you are granted an Interim your Career Counselor can request a class date for you. Expect that process to take a year. You're extending right now if that's your plan.

There are no authorizations for your MOS/Grade at Fort Sam. In your MOS you probably will never see Ft Sam unless your EFMP requires medical treatment so severe it requires the Army premier hospital to keep your dependent alive.

CPL (Join to see) no you can only be stationed at places that have authorizations for you. EFMP can move you out of a place that doesn't have support but can't move you into a place that doesn't have a job for you.

When I say never see it in your MOS. I mean that later, once you're a SSG there are three allocations there. HRC will usually use those to fill with people who need compassionate reassignments for things like their child is a terminal cancer patient receiving a bone marrow transplant at BAMC and has six months to live. Or their child is undergoing treatment for 40% body surface area burns of the third degree and has to reside in an ICU for months and BAMC is one of the world's premier burn centers.

You have a better chance of getting to Fort Sam as a 35L

SFC (Join to see) Rgr and I understand my chances. It was more of a joke than anything. I'm just trying to plan for the best future for my family and I feel that my decision will matter in the long run more than expected. I want to get to Texas as fast as I can army or not, but due to financial burdens and the cloud over ft hood, it's hard convincing my wife of such decisions.
