Should the military give special consideration for one or both members of a dual military couple? Would it be any different if they have children. Should both members be expected to go to the field / deploy together or take turns?

Absolutely they should go to the field, when you signed your contract, your marriage status had no relevance on your duty. And the military already give special consideration, it is called the married couples program, it may not be perfect but it exists.

It is the responsibility of the individual SM to decide what is more important to them their careers and job or their families, almost all will choose family so that is where the sacrifice of dual military comes into play for those who choose to stay in that situation and do their duty.
