Why are some people allowed to wear the SSI-FWTS patch for Cameroon and other people are not?

Met a few guys that have been deployed to Cameroon, some of them wear their “combat patch” because of it, the others say their units never did any type of memo to authorize the wear of the “combat patch”. They’re from the 101st and 10th MTN.

Units don't authorize SSI-MOHCs with memorandums. Big Army says which areas are considered combat zones.

I’m not tracking. Are the combat patches related to their Cameroon deployment or is it feasible SMs from the 101st might have deployed elsewhere to get their patches?

Considering that I am not finding Cameroon in the regulations for an area that is approved for the SSI-MOHC (new term replacing SSI-FWTS)….then those guys are wrong.

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - That is the caveat in the regulations. If a country is not listed for specific theaters for specific timeframes, then a request has to be submitted all the way to the top for approval for wear. And, as the OP stated, there is no memo. Either way you look at it, those that are wearing a right sleeve patch are still wrong.
