How do RCPs affect a soldier leaving Reserves/NG for active duty?

I started the 368 process but something that was only brought to my attention was the 'up or out' policy. From what i found and E5 maxes out at 14 years, but my total years in service (active and reserve) is nearing 13
Does anyone know how these would affect a soldier leaving Reserves/NG for active duty? will the "clock" reset to federal active time or continue with total years in?

Retention control points are based on your active duty service, your adjusted BASD once you go active. Your BASD is also used to determine your time in service for promotion, meaning you'll be waiting several years before you're eligible for SSG

Great question. NG and Reserve companies are many time almost a family unit. Which means you come in and --stay. As long as we keep being involved in W's Crusades, there will always be RAs with combat tours coming into the guard/reserves and getting the slots strictly for that reason. I don't agree with the up or out policy. But if you want retirement, which I have, you need to do whatever it takes to get that stripe!!
