My son is trying to enlist in the Army. He needed a waiver for one wavelength at one volume level on his hearing test. We took him to an Audiologist who tested him and said there should be no limitations, but MEPCOM turned down the waiver. Is there an appeal process?

MEPCOM is not the final say on the matter. In this situation the Army Liaison at the MEPS should take all the paperwork and send it for review by the Army docs. Then the Army Docs will either approve- disapprove - or request more info. It could take some time but generally speaking that is what should have happened.

Thanks for this response. My son went to the local recruiters who assured him they they would exhaust every avenue. They did nothing....literally. The recruiter at another station who put my son's fiancé's brother in boots looked into it and the appeal was not even attempted by the local station, so he is doing it himself. I guess that the local recruiting station is all making mission and are either sandbagging my son, or just don't care. I am grateful that there is a recruiter in the area that does care.

Keep trying, there are a lot of service personnel with some hearing loss. It would also depend on the type of job you are seeking.
