How do I get relief from required battle assemblies in a high risk environment?

I am in an Army Reserve unit that has been forced to drill in person throughout the pandemic. We have had 4 major scares with Soldiers testing positive. The last time, I had to miss 10 days from my civilian job to isolate, though thankfully near the end of that my test result came back negative. My unit has done nothing to help me. I cannot afford to do that again, but when I asked if I could perform BA virtually I was denied. I’m damned if I go and and I’m damned if I don’t. Does anyone have an idea that could help?

Unfortunately you are kind of stuck and have no real recourse. Your unit is taking protective measures, albeit not enough. You can try to go to the next level and complain but that is not going to have the results you want. You are stuck and are going to be left with the recourse to protect yourself to a higher standard and still report for drill.

Were protective measures in place? Hand Sanitizer, Masks, social distancing? Or was the unit being careless in this area?

SSG, there are protective measures in place, to an extent. Masks are worn, hand sanitizer was available the first few months, although it hasn’t been readily available recently. Social distancing is maintained during formations, but is not practical during classes or practical exercises.
