How difficult is it to get off an Army permanent profile? One of my NCOS said it's really hard to be removed from a permanent profile. I had knee surgery a few yrs ago to remove a part of my mensicus. I want to have another surgery to replace it (cadaver mensicus). What things do will I have to do to demonstrate to the Army that I'm physically capable of being taken off the permanent profile?

That 2.5 mile walk is no joke! I would rather run the 2 miles and be done! Lol!

SFC (Join to see) SGT I agree with you. That 2.5 mile walk sucks. I hope to never have to do that ever again. But to answer your question, I don't think you will be able too. Might have it where you can do certain things and other things you can't. All depends on who sees you and issues it.

I found the following that details the information. AR 40-501 Standards of Medical Fitness PG 76 (4) Permanent profiles may be amended (following the correct procedure) at any time if clinically indicated and will automatically be reviewed and verified by the privileged provider at the time of a Soldier’s periodic health assessment or other medical examination. (5) The Soldier’s commander may also request a review of a permanent profile.

It isn't very difficult. I usually would ask the patient to do 2 DAPFT (30 days apart) and bring a copy in to their appointment. I want to make sure they won't have any deficiencies once removed. There is no spoken rule. My personal preference is 1 year on before I consider but I would consider modifying.

To answer the original question, it depends on the doc.
