If there is any 35M who have any other type of advice about the career field, that would also be appreciated. I would rather learn from others than look back and wish I had done things differently.

Elston Harris Listen closely and be observant. You will notice actions by others that you will want to emulate in your career. Help out others when you can and be squared away. Always put forth your best effort and do not quit. Good luck!

Too late to practice now if you only have a couple days, but... get good at typing. You would be surprised how many folks struggle with report writing because they can't type fast enough (or accurately enough. Practice speaking to random people you do not know. Practice proper grammar.
If you can do those three things, AND you listen and apply what they teach you, you will do fine.

Thank you. The job I have now makes me do all three. I think my typing could be better, though. I type 40 words a minute.

40 WPM will be fine. You should have no worries on that front.

More importantly, police up spelling and grammar. That kills a surprising number of students when it comes time to grade assignments.

Active listening is one of the most important skills you can practice to prepare for AIT. Practice it at BCT. Not only will you better understand and learn the information you are being taught at BCT, but you will be well prepared on that skill at AIT.
