Just made specialist and had a sit down with my PL. I may have an opportunity to go Green to Gold. Im active duty and for personal reasons I want to be close to home. Is there away to go through green to gold and get National Guard or Reserves instead of active duty? Thanks for any and all replies

The applications states that the program has a Active Duty Service Obligation of three years as a Commissioned Officer, so my experience says no. Green to Gold is a ROTC program, I would contact the ROTC at the school you plan to attend and ask them that question.

One final point. These days active duty slots are competitive, so only the top portion of Class will get that chance.

You don't get active duty going green to Gold. In fact, it's very competitive and only the top performers receive an AD commission. There are three different G2G programs, you aren't even eligible to apply for the active duty option one without 60 SH of college, and it's very competitive.
