Are there any Army SOF positions available to CBRNE WO 740A. I'm debating on whether to put in a WO Package but I want the opportunity to stay on the SOF/Small army side of the house.

No matter what you do, you're going to leave SOF. There's no such thing as a SOF support MOS

I not know about today, but used to be C teams were full of candy stripers, lot more than flash qualified.

There are support personnel that are asigned to SOF which yoiu are right about the MOS but have a skill identifer if selection qualified. CAG has every MOS you can think supporting the operators in some service support function.

MSG Danny Mathers I don't mean there are no MOS's that support SOF, I mean there's no MOS called SOF Support.

One thing I always had to remind the support guys in SFG was that SOF is just an assignment for them, not a career. If they wanted to stay in group they could go get their tabs, but otherwise they were going back to the regular army eventually

For real? Planning your career on the basis of specific organization?
If your goal is to make a career in the Army then let me tell you a little secret: Unless you are an 18 Career Management Fields (CMF) or other SOF specific CMF (37/38/SMUs) your happy 4th point of contact better stay away from USASOC/USSOCOM as much as possible. A short tour of about 3 – 4 years? Of course, it would be a great and exiting learning experience! Bottom line: you need to become, not only a master of your trade, but a leader of Soldiers; which you will not properly accomplish within Special Operations. Not enough opportunities for such exposure. Truth be told, the conventional force is where you will find most of the opportunities to develop in your CMF. Got it! Lots of cool stuff in SOF. But that’s not a career. That’s an experience, a building block (if you like) that goes in the kit bag. So, if becoming a Subject Matter Expert is what you want, then you need to look beyond the “cool stuff” and focus on the big picture; the stuff that really matter! Or the best Chemo NCO ever, if that’s the case!

I disagree with all due respect concerning SOF is not a career. SOF is a career for those that maintain the skills and requirements of the job. Selection is a continious process for all assigned. You will be reassigned if you fail to meet standards. I know of many that spent a carer there and retired there, yours included.

SOF is definitely a career MSG Danny Mathers, like I mentioned, for those unique specialties (18, 37, 38, SMUs). Like always there be those exceptional Soldiers that had, are, and will make most of their career working within a variety of assignments in SOF. Case in point: A superb 92Y Supply Specialist who back in ‘93 was PVT/E1 with 3/75th, from Company supply to BN, to BDE. A few assignments across USASOC/USSOCOM, then ending his career as either 528th Sustainment BDE (ABN) or Support Squadron CSM. Any similarity with reality is pure coincidence! Another exception would be a 92R Parachute Rigger; I supported the 75th RR myself back in the early ‘90s. Some spend many years within SOF, others back and forth.

But for must MOSs, spending too much time within SOF is career suicide. That is not my opinion, but a fact. A a successful tour or two is looked favorable to one’s careers development; more than that? Not so. In the eyes of most promotion board members (we know who they are) if you don’t have a diversified experienced you are SOL; the logic has merit.

Maybe at CAG. You might want to talk with one of their recruiters. Keep in mind there is a selection process for all support personnel.
