Retention during a Massive Reduction in Force: Your Strategy?
So it looks like the trigger is likely to be pulled on a massive Reduction In Force (RIF). We've had a full generation of servicemembers who don't remember the last one, back in the early 90's. Since then, we've been on a freight train of ever-expanding benefits & pay. Sure, we've paid in blood and hardship, but you've gotta admit, the military has been good to us all.
So now that the axe is poised to drop, how do you plan on surviving the cut?
Believe me, the swath laid low by the Reaper's scythe will be wide, and brutal. If you believe you're immune, think again. Few if any will be "safe."
How do you plan to continue your military career, or do you plan to bail, hopefully on some Administration Golden Parachute?
Think about it... SNCOs with Master's Degrees...
20 years ago that was unheard of. Now it is practically a necessity to make CSM in a major command.
I like your strategy. Good Luck!
