Just wanting to know since the board results are about to come out and I have heard both that it does and that it doesn't.

Per 600-25 and HRC time spent as a SSG in a platoon sergeant position will only play a role in OJT and experience when going to the SFC promotion board, making the NCO more competitive. However, once a Soldier becomes an SFC, if PSG is a required key developemental position then the NCO will need to do that time as an SFC to be competitive for MSG.

It depends what they are looking for this year. They set a standard, which you don't know, and they advise the board members. Other things they look at is each MOS strength, so what is good for one MOS is not the same for the other. So the best bet is, do your best, and remember you wil not be in the military forever. What are your plans after the military is key.
