Jaws celebrates its 40th anniversary in June. It freaked me out so much that not only did I leave marks in the armrest at the theater, I could barely swim that summer of 1975 in a lake, let alone an ocean. So...what other movies do you recall the same way and why?

Great films. Penny wise was an evil clown. Tim Curry played the role well. Don't like clowns much at all

Absolutely. Prior to seeing the movie when I was a kid, clowns didn't bother me much. A little creepy, yes, but nothing to be too worried about. Then, Stephen King's "It" is released and my perspective changed forever.
Two side notes on the situation: it didn't help that my dad teased me with the idea he would put on clown make up and scare me in the middle of the night after watching that movie. Second, the fact that John Wayne Gacy dressed up as a clown really brought the concept of a killer clown to life (although I don't believe he murdered anyone in costume).

"It" was really creepy and I thought Tim Curry was great as Pennywise. I still remember the part where one guy gets sucked into a pipe and he just kind of folds in half.
