What is the difference between DLA and Travel Pay? Also, what exactly can you get advances for?

I've researched a lot, and all the websites confuse me, although they say the same thing. I just want to know what I am entitled to (specifically). Here is the lineup: TDY Enroute to Benning then Bragg. The wife, two kids and I will drive from Ft. Hood to Ft. Bragg. I will be going to Airborne after I drop them off and house them at Bragg. After AB, I will be make my way back down to Bragg for Q- Course. I received help with this recently, on Rally Point, but then found myself asking more questions afterwards. <div><br></div><div>Thanks in advance</div>

Travel pay is to cover the expenses of TRAVEL. (gas, lodging, food). DLA (dislocation allowance) is to help with expenses upon arrival at new duty station such as curtains, pet lodging, utility hook up, etc.... at least that is how I have understood it through the years!

DLA is usually double the BAH and is not repayable. Travel is hotel, meals, incidentals for you and your family to travel on. I believe you can get all in advance.
