Are civilians at a VA hospital required to respect veteran patients? Who do they answer to?

Are civilians working at a VA hospital held to the same protocols and standards of respect that military members are? I have been told that once a civilian gets a DOD job there is nothing that can be done to them and no matter what they do, the VA cannot discipline them or discharge them from their jobs even when there is clear proof of disrespect of a veteran?
Do they answer to any military officials, or are they immune from discipline, maybe in a union?
I have been terribly disrespected. I feel hurt and sad and afraid to try to push the issue because of what they said and how they think of me. It has been awhile but everytime I have to call or go to the VA I feel like they think I am a bad person and they can treat me poorly.
In response to a FOIA request from VA Madison, I received Skype between 2 civilians working in Director John Rohrer’s office. Though redacted, the topic allowed me to discern who it was. My feelings are so hurt. I wrote to the Director and to VISN. VISN never replied. The Director wrote it in a log book to get back to me but he won’t. The calls they talk about were about a serious mental health issue that could not be resolved by an advocate. I think think that talking about a vet in PTSD treatment and saying; “I couldn’t live with myself” is awful.
Received in a FOIA document response, 2 civilians working in Director’s office;
“Don’t pick up this call, it is CK, she got our direct number”
“She is so nasty”.
“ I could not live with myself if I had to be that nasty all the time”
“I agree”
Received in a FOIA document request; civilian and RN
Civilian: CK left another one of her messages.
RN: She is fine, I talked to her today
Civilian: She wants a call.
RN: Yeah, they said that she was crying when she called. I laughed when I found out it was her!
Civilian: I know.
I want there to be something that can make them stop this. Every time I call now I feel like they will gossip
and demean me. If it is allowed by the Director’s staff, maybe it is ok with everyone else? I am an honorably discharged veteran

Please contact me. You have no idea how much progress has come about because of my VA warfare, but I don’t think it ever will be enough. I’m going out on a limb here and giving you my email addy & phone. I will remove both in 7 days so I pray you’re closely following. My sister in law worked at a VA hospital in mid Michigan until she retired, she said that they were held to the same flame as military type that worked there CPT Cynthia Koroll, RN, MS, JD

CPT Cynthia Koroll, RN, MS, JD Hi Cindi, I am sorry you have been disrespected at the VA. No veteran should ever leave a VA facility feeling that way. I can say that 99.9% of my dealing with the VA has been respectful. I had one doctor who when I met her the first time, she said to me are you another alcoholic. I was shocked that she treated me that way and I reported her to the VA Hospital Administrator and requested a new primary care. I hope you reach out to PO3 Julia Perry as she seems to know what she is talking about.

I feel ya! I changed doctors twice before I found a good, thorough, holistic one. The first doctor sent me home after a car accident & complaints of headaches with a suggestion to take Advil; I went to a civilian doctor with my insurance money only to find out I had four herniated discs and ended up with surgery. The next Doctor, having told her I was having problems with my blood sugar's, asked me how I feel when they go low. When I explained to her how awful it was, her response was "But it's not like you're gona die!" Yes, things are changing, but until we all stand up for ourselves & each other. I once stood up for a disrespected older veteran who took the abuse and called out the nurse in a crowded room. I was then told by another oldtimer "it's not worth it"--the hell it isn't!

I came across this article while doing a little research, seems like Ms. Koroll has other issues besides the VA. https://flightattendantfailures.wordpress.com/2016/12/18/attorney-disciplinary-commission-takes-on-complaint-of-harassment/
Attorney Disciplinary Commission Takes On Complaint of Harassment
Harassment by electronic means is an issue now before the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. The case is pending, but I’m reporting on it because the attorney has admitted …

SFC William Farrell Out of curiosity, I was wondering what exactly this had to do with her post here on Rally Point?
Honestly this just “seems” like trying to knock her down another few notches or maybe even off the ladder all together! I read your link and the links within the link. While it may not be flattering to her conduct with other attorneys back between 2011 and 2015, 2018, has no bearing on what she has posted here!
Plus, your research, only showed the complaint against her fortunately her response is linked at the bottom in the document but how many will actually go that far? Did you? What was the outcome? Did you research it that far? Since you were being nosey how far did you go? IT doesn’t matter!!!!!!
She is still a Veteran and should be treated with better respect than what she has posted as being shown here by the office she is calling. Which doesn’t surprise me really considering attitude, perception and performance are all indicative of the leadership a person has whether they are military or civilian!
I have to say that your attitude in adding to this post in this matter is a let down from the way others speak (or write) about you being such a great leader and NCO. I would have expected more.

SGT Tim. Wilson - No, not at all. She seems to be a very intelligent woman but one who has issues with a lot of people for different reasons. And as far as her being treated with respect at the VA Hospital, I said that in my original response. No veteran should be disrespected at the VA.
