I notice that some soldiers have the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge with a chord and some don't. I have tried to research it but I cannot find a clear answer. I am looking into trying out for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.

The badge with the chord is the German Armed Forces Badge of Marksmanship or the Schtzenschnur while the one without the chord is the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. The first as stated is awarded for Marksmanship with a pistol, rifle and machine gun while the proficiency badge is awarded for completion of a basic fitness test with several events and military training which includes a 100 meter swim for time, first aid, pistol qualification and ruck march for time and distance.

Oh ok, I didn't know there was a fitness test. I only did the Schtzenschnur.

The one without cord is the fitness one. The one WITH CORD is for W-E-A-P-O-N-S
