I recently made an appointment to get my military ID upgraded to Retired military (I am a retired reservist). However, I was told that my spouse could not get her ID at this time without explanation. Is anyone from customer service on this site that could give me further or better explanation? Thanks!

I walked in last week and was told they were not issuing ID cards that weren't expired and even ones that were had an extension due to COVID - trying to minimize activity in the office. Later in the week I saw a message come out that all RAPIDS sites were having issues with the CAC making system. Haven't heard if it has been resolved.

Thank you ma'am for your response. If it wasn't for the change in status (retired reserve, red card, to full retirement, tan card, I wouldn't question their need to hold off changing her card. And with Tricare in play, I want to make sure she gets the same benefits. Thanks again for responding and thank you for your service!

I know that I had to set up an appointment for both self and wife to get them made. When you made the appointment did you make it for both?
Back in the day you could just walk in, now everything is filled out online and appointments are made.
Prefer the old days.

Hi Chief! Yes, when I made the appointment, I clarified that I needed an ID for myself and my wife. Their response was that they could do my ID, but not her's. Guess when I go in for my appointment, I'll get a better answer in person rather than over the phone. And, yes, I miss the the good old days when getting an ID was hassle free!

MSgt Timothy Nelson what I have seen is the steady transition to business-like rather than military-like, in many aspects of the AF. Where I retired, the reserve and active MPF had bunched together and the reserve got let’s say, less than stellar service in some instances (not always-because I usually was treated awesomely/of course was in uniform...I get that too) which prompted a split back to reserve handling reserve.
Overall, I think the service then improved for the TRs, but then they lost out on some of the networking of constant AD exposure.
Not so sound old, but back in the day....hahahaha.
Hope it works out well for you and the Mrs. and congratulations on joining the retirement roster.

Your wife does not need one if it has not expired. Her info will be updated in DEERS once you receive your new card.
