I am currently on rotation in Germany it doesn’t end until April. 2 days prior to landing in Germany I was put on orders to Korea. I don’t plan to re-enlist or extend and I’m trying not to spend over a year and a half away from my family. I am trying to get n coded for this deployment to see if I can get the orders deleted but I need more options. My retention nco said that I cannot sign a DEC statement because they will just change my orders but will they give me orders if I don’t have the time to finish the year tour In Korea please help me out. At this point I will have a year and 13 days from the start of my assignment in Korea to my ets. Can anyone give me some good information?

Because your report date conflicts with your rotation your unit must request the deletion. If they don’t then you will have to fly home early and PCS to Korea.

SFC Michael Hasbun he’s not authorized to sign a declination because he still has enough time to go to Korea. You can’t decline an assignment you can only decline to reenlist to meet the SRR.

SFC (Join to see) - does he? I thought he said he didn't.

Well... that was a bit of wasted research...

SFC Michael Hasbun I thought he said that if his report date gets changed he won’t. His unit “should” submit the operational deletion since they won’t be able to stabilize him while he’s on assignment. What’s supposed to happen and what does happen isn’t always the same thing in the Army

According to regs, OCONUS PCS only requires a unit to grant 10 business days (2 weeks) to clear post. You can be sent home early from your Germany rotation in order to give you time to clear post and get to Korea. When I got assigned to Korea, I had exactly 23 days from oral notification from my HRC Branch Assignment Manager until my report date. In that time, I cleared post, moved my family from Kansas to North Carolina, and then left for Korea. Was it tough? Yes it was, but doable.

If I were you, I would plan on going to Korea and then ETSing from there, as you won't have enough time to be PCSed anywhere else before your ETS. I don't know if there is an SFL/TAP course where you will be stationed in Korea, but you'll do that before you ETS, and then likely go on Terminal Leave your last days after you return from Korea.

Your only option is to have your unit must request the deletion. Otherwise, get ready for Korea, do the tour and come home then ETS.
